2001 – 2004

Anet is a highly complicated and in the artistic implementation of her own complicatedness, actually a very straightforward artist.

The text on one of her images says: “I am wild, the civilized people intuit this. Because in my work, there is nothing confusing, except that wildness against my will.”

Anet lives by the motto, never say who you are, it’s better to permanently reinvent yourself.

But who is Anet behind this invention, behind the current assertion that she is now completely herself, in this moment truthful and authentic? Anet, queen of the moment, chaos, shape shifter, the wrath of God.

The text on the photographs is Swiss artist Anet Hofer’s spontaneous reactions to, and on, the photographed portraits of her that I made.
